Maine Fibershed Benefit

Seafolk Coffee
March 28th, 6-8pm
external-file_edited_edited.jpg

Cultivating a Maine-based natural fiber system that nourishes soil, protects land, and supports our community.

We're hosting our first benefit for a cause close to our hearts — the Maine Fibershed. Similar to the local food movement, the Fibershed movement has a focus on local and sustainable fiber farming, production, and processing.

On March 28th, we'll gather at Seafolk Coffee in Rockport to hear a presentation from Pat Harpell, the co-founder of the Maine Fibershed.

Arrive at 6 to browse some samples of Maine-produced fiber, check out the hat kits to benefit Maine Fibershed, and grab a tea or coffee and a treat from the Cafe. Pat will begin her presentation at 6:30 with time for questions. Bring your knitting, of course — does that go without saying?

Suggested minimum donation $15 at the door — all proceeds will go to the Maine Fibershed. Cash, check, or Venmo.

Space is limited, RSVP required.

Monhegan Island Adventure

 at Monhegan House - June 13 - 15, 2025
IMG_2028.HEIC

Project Focus: Musselburghs on Monhegan
For this trip, we'll be casting on for a Musselburgh Hat by Ysolda Teague. It has a unique construction that's a bit fiddly at the start — we'll help get you going. If you're new to knitting hats, or would prefer something simpler, we have recommendations for beginner-friendly hat patterns and will be happy to get you started.

Description:

June is an ideal time to visit Monhegan Island — before the summer crowds! The island landscape is quintessentially Maine with rocky cliffs and coves, tall pines, laundry on the line, and beach roses lining white picket fences in the village. Monhegan is just ten miles from the village of Port Clyde and only accessible by boat. It’s a destination for nature-lovers, bird-watchers, hikers, and artists. There’s a tiny village with a few shops, a couple of unpaved roads, and the only vehicles are island trucks and golf carts — foot traffic only. Most of the land on Monhegan is owned by a private non-profit, essentially a land trust that maintains the nine miles of hiking trails that lead to the highest ocean cliffs on Maine’s coast.

Our retreat will be centered around enjoying the bountiful natural beauty of Monhegan — slowing down to the pace of island life, and exploring the trails on our hikes and walks. In the mornings, you might enjoy your coffee on the front porch with your knitting in your lap, and in the evenings, we’ll gather to knit in the parlor at Monhegan House.

About Monhegan House:
Monhegan House has bright, comfortable rooms with beautiful views of the ocean, the lighthouse and meadow, or both. Rooms are appointed with period furniture and plush, comfortable bedding. This is a food-focused inn, described as “Michelin rustic” with meals prepared with fresh and local ingredients, 95% of which is prepared from scratch. Included with your room are baked goods and coffee for the early risers, followed by a 3-course breakfast. We’ll be dining at MOHO for dinners as well.

Most of the rooms at Monhegan House have shared baths, and some rooms have access to bathroom facilities on the floor below. The upstairs rooms are accessible by stairs only.

Lodging and Costs:

The Monhegan Island Adventure is limited to 10 retreat participants.

We have reserved a block of rooms that include a range of pricing/space options — from $141 to $295 per night.

More detailed information about ferry tickets and parking fees on the mainland, room rates, meals, and other associated costs can be found on the Intention Form for the Monhegan Island Adventure.

Island Adventure is fully booked.

Our Process

gather2knit retreats and fiber adventures are purposefully small and intimate.

Options for accommodations vary with each trip so you can choose a room that fits your budget.

With limited spaces for participants, and the specifics of each venue’s accommodations, we will be balancing your room request with the rooms that are available. This means requests may exceed availability and you’ll have the option to join the waitlist.

If you would like to join us for a gather2knit multi-day experience…

  1. Fill out an intention form to let us know some important information about you, and your requests / priorities for your room.

  2. We review all intention forms and will notify you of space availability. Due to limited space, you’ll have the option to join the waitlist, if needed.

  3. Once your space is confirmed, you’ll receive registration forms by email, including information about how to submit your deposit and deadline for final payment. Registration will not be considered final until your deposit is received.

  4. After we receive your deposit, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your room assignment, a detailed packing list, the general flow of activities, and a brief questionnaire.
